For those who are up to speed, however, you may consider the benefits of a scheduled air duct services:

Sheet Metal

Sheet metal is the most common type of duct. Made from galvanized steel, sheet metal is formed into rectangular or round shapes. It isn’t uncommon to line these ducts with fiberglass insulation in order to increase their energy efficiency and reduce the noise they create.

Fiberglass Duct Board

Fiberglass duct board is more affordable than sheet metal. However, fiberglass is also less durable, more likely to be damaged by pests like mice, and more likely to develop mold at one point or another. Fiberglass’s best application is when it’s used to create the duct system’s main trunk lines from which the smaller lines branch off as they travel out to individual rooms.

Flexible duct

Referred to as flexduct, flexible duct is created by covering a wire coil with plastic liner, fiberglass insulation, and finally a vapor barrier on the exterior. It’s best for tight, awkward spaces where rigid ducts can’t be effectively installed. Flexduct is also used to connect rigid ductwork to a supply air register. While convenient and quiet, unfortunately, it isn’t very energy inefficient. It can also kink and bend in a way that impairs airflow and result in damage. For this reason, flexible duct should be used infrequently and with discretion.
